Looking good

It’s Thursday morning and two cases are packed.

There are just a couple of items left on the to-do list.

Yet there is a lurking tension.

If it keeps us on our toes, that’s no bad thing.

Breathe!

These words of wisdom probably wouldn’t go down too convincingly at an airline check-in desk.

Someone very thoughtfully has given me a book to whet my appetite for the journey ahead.

Up to now I’ve been facing it with a mixture of disbelief and apprehension.

Now it’s becoming real and the anticipation, thanks to the gift, is becoming pleasurable.

The book is Nicholas Shakespeare‘s In Tasmania, which mixes travelogue with mind-boggling history.

Even while he horrifies with tales of cruelty and hardship, Shakespeare makes it plain that here is a place which casts a spell on those who visit.
It seems to be a bit like his namesake’s isle of terror and enchantment in The Tempest.
